Merriam Webster defines engineering as “The application of science and mathematics by which theproperties of matter and the sources of energy in nature are made useful to people.” This definitionrepresents defines all the disciplines of engineering regardless of the time period it occurs. “Engineeringhas a significant impact on our planet and our lifestyle.” says the Dean of Stanford University Persis
Drell. Which is completely true engineering has a huge impact on society as society does on engineering.

I . Future of Engineering Globally


The National Academy of Engineering believes “In 2020, technological advances will
continue to occur; the world will be interconnected through these futuristic technology advances.The future of engineering will to continue these innovations through technology. The factors that affect the future of engineering are: social, cultural, political, and economic forces will.
Engineering innovation will help drive society’s economic growth, and create remarkable
opportunities that will continue to propel new innovations (ideas) in nanotechnology, logistics,biotechnology, and high-performance computing.” 


II. Future challenges of Engineering


The first challenges engineering faces as the technology continues to advances is better education and development for engineering students. Engineering universities should better prepare their student with skills set such as: strong analytical skills, the practice of ingenuity,creativity, good communication skills, business and management knowledge, leadership, high ethical standards, professionalism, dynamism, agility, resilience, flexibility, and the pursuit of life long learning. Essential skills needed to forward the progression of innovation lead by engineers.
